Saint Josemaría
Escrivá (1902-1975), a Roman Catholic
priest, is one of the leading figures in 20th century Catholicism. In
1928, he founded Opus Dei, an institution of the Catholic Church now
present throughout the world.
The figure of Saint
Josemaría, along with the history of Opus Dei, are stimulating a
growing interest among historians, sociologists, humanists, jurists,
specialists in Christian spirituality and other researchers of recent
Catholic history. The Saint Josemaría Escrivá Historical
Institute (ISJE) was founded in 2001,
with its headquarters in Rome, in order to promote research in these
fields. |
The Institute has
launched a specialized annual
journal titled Studia et Documenta. In addition to gathering studies in
history, theology, jurisprudence, sociology and other such fields, the
journal provides a regular section dedicated to the publishing of
sources. It also offers information regarding major academic events in
related fields of study as well as updated bibliographical information
on the figure and work of Saint Josemaría Escrivá.
Each article is published in the author’s original
language. Articles are accepted in English, Spanish, Italian, French,
Portuguese and German. |
